Is It Summer Time or Not?

I am not sure what mom was thinking, but she was insistent on putting on all my cute swimwear from Krista and Amanda, but then she didn't even take me to the pool. She claims she just needed to see how cute I would look in them. I must confess I do look pretty dapper in them.

I didn't want to leave on the swim shoes or the hooded robe. I just need the bare minimum, trunks, hat and glasses so I can show off my six pack.

Mommy promises next time she put all these clothes on me we will really be going to the pool.

Can you say separation anxiety????

Well, its been a rough last couple of days!!! Peepaw had an unexpected stay in the hospital getting a stent in his heart so meemaw was not available for babysitting. Luckily Grandpa and Grandma Cheek stepped in like troopers. I was very weary of being away from mom and meemaw as evidenced by not too many smiles in these pictures.

Luckily cousin Brooke came along on the first day and I warmed up to her first. She even got me to take a nap. Eventually I warmed up to grandma and grandpa too. I just had to get used to them.

After a long day without mom, she let me have a biter biscuit and she didn't even complain about the complete mess I made. Boy those cookies sure are yummy. I had to get really comfortable letting my leg hang out too.

Top Ten Reasons I am a "Big Boy Now!"

Since I am officially 8 months old now, I thought it would be appropriate to come up with a Top
10 List of why I am such a big boy now. So, drum roll please.................

10. I now wear big boy pajamas......no more sleepers with footies in them. That's for babies.

9. I got my first boo boo and didn't even cry!

8. I can now pick up puffs and feed myself......not quite a pincer grasp yet, but that's to come.

7. I can drink through a straw. Boy is that a treat!!!

6. I can stand on my own and hold a toy. Doing 2 things at once is old hat now.

5. I can wave, and for all you SLP's out there reading this......it is a wave with only a verbal prompt, no visual cues and its across 3 consecutive sessions!!!

4. When I am cruising around furniture I only need to hold on with one hand.

3. When some one is trying to help me stand up, I push their hands away......I can do it myself!

2. I am over 20 pounds. I know.......that makes me a chunk and my legs are chubby....but who cares.

1. And finally, much to mommy's dismay, I am constantly saying dada. Not a sign of any bilabials (for the non SLPS.....[m] sounds for mommy) in sight for the time being.

Grandpa Don's Birthday

At Grandpa Don's birthday he got this really neat trailer to pull behind his riding lawn mower. Aunt Ginger and Aunt Stephanie thought it would be fun to test its weight capacity and take a ride so I went along. Uncle Matt is a good driver, but it sure was a bumpy ride. Being away from mommy was kind of scary so I had to shed a few tears, but deep down I thought it was really fun.

I had so much fun at the party that I was totally wound up and did not fall asleep the whole way home. So much for needing to put on my jammies for the trip.

Just a Swingin'

Here I am swinging on my new swing. It is so fun to go really high and let my hair blow in the breeze.

Here I am at Red Lobster for PeePaw's birthday dinner. Boy their cheddar cheese biscuits are right down my alley. In the other picture I am just posing being a big boy.

Here I am enjoying the nice weather playing outside with my toys. Being outside is my new favorite thing!!

I'm Off and Running

Mommy and Daddy got me this cool grocery cart walker and now I have just taken off. It only took me 5 minutes to figure it out. Now I am walking across the living room.

Cheek Look-alike Meter

Mommy had to do this look-a-like meter to see if I look more like her or daddy, but the results came back even. So, to all of you who keep saying that I look just like daddy, well, this meter says I look like mommy too!

Never Ending Car Ride

Here I am at Mommy's Aunt Sherrill's house. After a 4 1/2 hour car ride, I was ready to stay up way past my bedtime. In the second picture I am showing Sherrill that I am "SO Big."

Here I am at Kelsay and Karoline's birthday party. Mommy's cousin Kevin could not help but make me wear the Royals hat just to irritate daddy, however I only left it on for a second. I had to let Kevin have a little satisfaction since his Royals are usually in the cellar of their division. In the second picture I am hanging out with Karoline, AKA Dorothy, from the Wizard of Oz. She got the outfit for her birthday.

Here I am having a special pose with Meemaw and Peepaw before church at Meemaw's little hometown country church in Cosby. It's a lot smaller than my church. It was pretty neat though because mommy took me down for my first children's sermon. It was a lot fun.

Here I am posing with Sherrill. She was such a good hostess and the little nibbles mommy gave me of her coffee cake were incredible. Back at home, my latest favorite thing is to cruise along the couch and other furniture. In this picture I am showing off only using 1 hand. Besides cruising I have also learned to stand all by myself. Currently my record stands at 19 seconds and I have taken 1 step on my own.

Here mommy and I are in the kitchen. I love to help her cook. I think I am such a big help, but she may disagree. If I am helping her too much she always gives me the turkey baster to play with. That can keep me occupied for at least 5 minutes.

After the long trip back to Nixa, all I wanted to do was "Bang on my Drum All Day" and play with my toys.

Here I am getting some quality daddy time when I got home. He loves to play with me and he calls me Little Buddy. My other new favorite thing is to play with my bottle instead of drinking it. The more I can shake and get drips on my face the happier I am.
